Abstract

The low achievement of exclusive breastfeeding raises questions considering the large benefits obtained if all babies receive exclusive breastfeeding. The National Nutrition Program (NNP) in its research found that if breastfeeding or breastfeeding practices are not correct, it can cause or even become the main cause of malnutrition in infants and toddlers. So the government needs to make a policy regarding exclusive breastfeeding. The Indonesian government's policy regarding exclusive breastfeeding was when the government issued the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 450/Menkes/SK/IV/2004 concerning Exclusive Breastfeeding for Babies (from birth to 6 months of age). This can be implemented by implementing Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) and requiring health workers to provide information to all mothers who give birth to provide exclusive breast milk by referring to the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding (LMKM). Three ministries also support these efforts in the form of the issuance of a joint regulation between the Minister of State for Women's Empowerment (Number 48/Men PP/XII/2008), the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration (PER.27/MEN/XII/2008) and the Minister of Health.  Regarding Increasing the Provision of Breast Milk During Working Time in the Workplace.
