Anemia is a condition that occurs when the number of red blood cells in the body is below normal or when red blood cells do not have enough hemoglobin. The causes of this anemia are severe bleeding, accidents, surgery, childbirth, ruptured blood vessels, nosebleeds. Worldwide, the frequency of anemia in pregnancy is quite high, around 10% to 20%. One of the causes of anemia in pregnancy is parity and maternal age. Anemia in pregnant women can also cause postpartum hemorrhage where we know that postpartum hemorrhage is a cause of death in mothers. The term postpartum hemorrhage is used if the bleeding after the child is born exceeds 500 ml. postpartum hemorrhage itself is divided into primary postpartum hemorrhage, which is bleeding that occurs in the first 24 hours and secondary postpartum hemorrhage, which is bleeding that occurs after the first 24 hours. In addition to affecting the mother, anemia also affects the fetus in the mother's womb, including causing abortion, stillbirth, low birth weight and bleeding before or during labor. Other possible impacts are lack of oxygen in the womb and failure to breathe spontaneously and regularly at birth or some time after birth.
