Abstract

Hepatitis B is caused by the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) which attacks the liver and causes acute or chronic liver inflammation. This situation is very dangerous because the sufferer does not feel sick but can transmit HBV to other people. Hb0 immunization is an immunization that can be carried out at the time the baby is born until it is 0-7 days old. The research objective was to determine the relationship between maternal health education and awareness of Hb0 immunization in infants at the medan area  Health Center. The research method with a cross-sectional design was used with a pre-test- post-test approach in the experimental group, with a sample of 32 women. The sampling technique was a total sampling of 32 people. Data was collected using a questionnaire. The research results were processed using a computer program through the Spearman Rank Test (Rho). The results showed that the health education obtained by mothers in giving Hb0 immunization to infants was mostly in the good category, 15 people (46.9%) and a small number of 7 people (21.9%) were lacking. It is known that the awareness of mothers in giving Hb0 immunization to infants is mostly in the good category as many as 14 people (43.8%) and a small number of people are lacking as many as 7 people (21.9%). There is a relationship between maternal health education and the administration of Hb0 immunization to infants at the Pematangsiantar Health Center with the number of research data being 32 where the sig value <0.05 or 0.021 <0.05
