Hubungan Peran Caregiver Dengan Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Dasar Pada Lansia Yang Demensia di Puskesmas Darusalam

Abstract

The elderly are those who live more than half of their life and are over 59 years old. Caregivers are individuals who help care for and provide comfort to the elderly to improve the health status of the elderly, help the elderly accept their condition, and help the elderly face death by being treated humanely until death comes. Dementia (senility) is a cognitive decline that is so severe that it interferes with daily life activities and social activities. The purpose of this writing is to find out the relationship between the role of caregivers and the fulfillment of basic needs in the elderly with dementia at the Meurebo Health Center. The design of this study is an analytical survey with a cross sectional study approach, which emphasizes the measurement/observation time only once at a time. The population in this study is all elderly people with dementia who go to the Meurebo Health Center for treatment as many as 150 people. The sample of this study was taken as many as 39 people. The results of the study on 39 respondents found that most of the caregiver roles were not good, as many as 24 people (61.5%) and a small part were good, as many as 15 people (38.5%). Most of the basic needs were not met as many as 26 people (66.7%). There is a relationship between the role of caregivers and the fulfillment of basic needs in the elderly with dementia Fisher' Exact Test=0.000 (p<0.05). The researcher suggested to the Meurebo Health Center to hold a socialization or workshop on the Role of Caregivers with the Fulfillment of Basic Needs in the Elderly with Dementia.
