Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by increased blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) due to defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. There are two factors related to controlling blood glucose levels, namely internal factors (illness and stress, obesity, food/food intake, treatment either with tablets or insulin) and external factors (education, knowledge, closeness and exposure to sources of information). This research aims to determine what factors make blood sugar levels controlled in diabetes mellitus patients at the Dr. General Hospital. Pirngadi in 2023. This research uses a descriptive analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach, and uses a research questionnaire and sampling using a total sampling technique with a sample size of 43 people. The results of the study showed that there were factors that controlled blood sugar levels, only exposure to information had no effect on controlling blood sugar levels with p = 0.583, greater than α (0.05). It is recommended that factors that influence the control of blood sugar levels are very important for patients suffering from diabetes mellitus to pay attention to in order to maintain stable blood sugar levels within normal limits.
