Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a health problem that occurs almost in all walks of life in the world. One of the common complications of diabetes mellitus is the occurrence of diabetic ulcers, complications of diabetic ulcers is a disturbing situation and can trigger excessive anxiety due to a sudden change in life that indicates some negative psychological reactions such as anger, feeling of no use, experiencing physical disturbances in everyday life, pain, risk of amputation, and appearance disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the influence of diabetic ulcers on the level of anxiety in patients with type II diabetes mellitus in Asri Wound Care Center Medan. The sample in this study were 40 respondents with diabetic ulcers. The instrument used is an anxiety questionnaire and an observation sheet of diabetic ulcer wounds BWAT Scale (Bates-Jansen Wound Assessment Tool). The results of the study were analyzed by correlating between anxiety level and diabetic ulcer in Asri Wound Care Center Medan was 0,024, p Value <α (0,024 <0,05). This means that there is influence between diabetic ulcers with anxiety levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus in Asri Wound Care Center Medan. It is expected that nursing practice can be used as a reference by nurses in giving nursing care about the influence of diabetic ulcers on anxiety level in patients with type II diabetes mellitus.
