Abstract

The increase in maternal mortality is a big problem in the world, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. The high maternal mortality rate (MMR) is one indicator that shows a picture of the health status in a region as a measure of the success of a country's development. One way that the government can do to reduce maternal mortality is to make the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) program. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between pregnancy exercise and the normal delivery process in primiparous mothers. This study uses quantitative research methods with a non-experimental research design. The design used in this study is descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach where measurements or observations are made at the same time. The number of samples in the study were 48 people. The results of the analysis can be seen that the correlation coefficient between pregnancy exercise and normal delivery in primiparous mothers is -0.800 with a significant level of 1%, namely p Value <α (0.000 <0.01), then Ho is rejected. Ha is accepted. This means that there is a positive relationship between pregnancy exercise and the normal delivery process at the Medan Sundari General Hospital. It is hoped that pregnant women can do better pregnancy exercises, given that pregnancy exercises are very important to be carried out in facilitating and accelerating the delivery process
