Abstract

The elderly are a group of elderly people who experience the aging process and occur naturally. Elderly is an age that undergoes many changes which include physical, social, and psychological changes. One of them is changes in musculoskeletal and physical disorders that often occur in musculoskeletal, namely joint disease or rheumatoid arthritis is inflammation of a joint, but often affects more than just a joint, sometimes associated with the tissue that surrounds a joint and affects other body systems 35 respondents who had mild pain as many as 18 people (51.4%), moderate pain as many as 13 people (37.1%) and severe pain as many as 4 people (11.4%) and from 35 respondents who experienced psychological responses as many as 15 people (42.9%) and did not experience a psychological response as many as 19 people (57.1%). In conclusion, there is a very significant (strong) relationship between the level of pain in the elderly with rheumatoid arthritis and psychological changes at the H. Adam Malik Hospital in 2020. As additional information and as an illustration of improving pain services, including overcoming pain with non-pharmacological therapy so that the elderly those who feel pain don't feelpsychological changes that can make the elderly uncomfortable with the pain they feel
