Penerapan Teknik Slow Stroke Back Massage (SSBM) Terhadap Penurunan Nyeri Kepala Pada Pasien Hipertensi Di Rumah Sakit Tk II Putri Hijau Medan Tahun 2021

Abstract

Hypertension is the abnormal increase of blood pressure in the blood vessels, Hypertension causes various symptoms including pain. Accoording to WHO, the number of hypertension cases in the world reaches around 1.13 billion people, around 9,4 million people were estimated to die every year due to the complications hypertension. One of the pain management in the patient with hypertension is non pharmacological therapy by using Slow Stroke Back Massage therapy. The therapy is one of the massage action on the patient’s back with rhythmic and slow hand movements, and taken 3 times a day. The research method used descriptive study design including the stages of assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation and evaluation The result of Slow Stroke Back Massage therapy management in 2 patient with hypertension showed that in the first patient the pain scale was 4 (0-10) BP: 140/90 mmHg, while in the second patient the pain scale was 3 (0-10) mmHg BP: 138/89mmHg. After implementing the Slow Stroke Back Massage technique, the first patient’s pain scale decreased to 1 BP: 120/80 mmHg and the second patient decreased to 1 BP: 120/80 mmHg. It showed that the fulfilment needs of sense of security in comfort pain by using the Slow Stroke Back Massage technique which was conducted for 10 to 30 minutes when the pain occurring was benefical in reducing the pain scale and lowering blood pressure to normal
