Abstract

Ischemic stroke is the clinical sign of dysfunction or brain tissue damage that caused by the lack of blood flow to the brain, it interferes the need for blood and oxygen in the brain. The problems that might be experienced by post stroke patients were paralysis, impaired sensation, swallowing disorder, balance disorder, urinary disorder, and defecation. During the treatment at home, the family plays important role in improving the patient's independence, increasing self-confidence, and preventing stroke recurrence. The role of the family in patients with post stroke at home is needed in the recovery by providing social support, motivating and helping to find treatment. The study used descriptive case study approach that focused on discharge planning, by providing health education and giving essential oil to the patients with ischemic stroke. Tee nursing process carried out by researcher through the stages of assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The study conducted on 2 patients with the same diagnosis of ischemic stroke. The result found that health education was given about health education as well as giving the essential oil. It is suggested for other studies to have deeper understanding about the fulfillment of education in patients with ischemic stroke.
