Hubungan Motivasi Perawat Dengan Kepatuhan Perawat Dalam Melakukan Hand Hygiene di RS Malahayati Bireuen

Abstract

One source of transmission of nosocomial infections in hospitals is nurses, who can disseminate through direct contact to patients. Nurses have a big contribution in preventing nosocomial infections, because nurses more often contact patients and the patient's environment. There were still nurses who did not do hand hygiene which were suspected because of lack of motivation. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses' motivation and nurse compliance in doing hand hygiene. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive design. The study was conducted at the Malahayati Beureun. Time of study in January 2019. The study population was 62 people and all were sampled. Data analysis was done by univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test at a confidence level of 95% ( = 0.05). Based on the results of the study, the majority of nurses in the Sundari Medan Hospital were in the high category 54.8%, minorities in the low category of 1.6%. Nurses' compliance in carrying out hand hygiene in Malahayati Beureun Hospital the majority in the obedient category was 77.4%, the minority was less obedient to 22.6%. Nurses 'motivation was significantly associated with nurses' compliance with hand hygiene at Malahayati Berueun Hospital, p = 0.024 <0.05. Nurses who have high motivation tend to be obedient to hand hygiene, whereas nurses who are low motivated tend not to obey hand hygiene. It is recommended to nurses to be more obedient in following hand washing procedures in accordance with the SOP so that patients and hospital officials in the Inpatient Room of Malahayati beureun Hospital are protected from germs, bacteria, or viruses that can transmit the disease.
