Abstract

According to the World Healthy Organization (WHO) 2017, globally around 20-40% of infants aged 0-2 years experience delays in the development process. The prevalence of child development problems in various developed and developing countries including America is 12-16%, Argentina 22% and Hong Kong 23%. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of infant massage on the growth and development of infants aged 6 months. Experimental research. Experimental research is aimed at looking at causal relationships by manipulating one or more independent variables. This research uses pre-experimental research. The research was conducted at the Hadijah Outpatient Primary Clinic Jalan Pahlawan Gang Melati No. 08 Field of Struggle. The study population was 30 infants and all of them were used as samples. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test at a 95% confidence level (= 0.05).a) Based on the results of the tests that have been carried out, it shows that the difference in growth and development of infants aged 6 months before and after being given baby massage treatment at the Hadijah Outpatient Primary Clinic, with p-value = 0.000 <0.05 and t-value = -4.243> t-table (1.697) at df = 30. It means that there is an effect of baby massage on the growth and development of babies aged 6 months. The negative value on the t-test results indicates that the average value before being given baby massage treatment is lower than the value after being given baby massage treatment in infants aged 6 months.It is recommended to health workers at the Hadijah Outpatient Primary Clinic Medan to develop promotions and education about baby massage to the public, especially parents of babies to increase the growth and development of babies.
